How long is the OFF-PISTE E-Learning course?
According to our testers, the course takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete. However, the course can be paused in order to break it up into shorter sessions.

Is there an exam at the end of the E-Learning courses?
Yes, there is an exam at the end of the OFF-PISTE E-Learning course. It consists of 40 questions. Twenty-eight correct answers (70%) are required to pass. Participants may attempt the test up to four times.

Can I take the T-Learning course without having completed the E-Learning certificate?
No. Successfully completing the E-Learning course is a prerequisite for the T-Learning course.

Do I need to take OFF-PISTE before BACKCOUNTRY?
If you already have considerable backcountry experience, you can jump right into the BACKCOUNTRY course (available starting in December 2021). However, we recommend that enthusiasts with relatively little backcountry experience start with the OFF-PISTE initiation course. If you are not sure, speak to one of our instructors.

Is WEMountain a Swiss organization?
The WEMountain program was developed in Switzerland with experts from around the world. The organization’s headquarters are in Lausanne. However, the program is international. It is taught using our unique methodology and universal terminology that is standard around the world.

How old do I have to be to take a WEMountain course?
You must be 16 years old to register. We are currently designing a junior course for ages 12 to 16 with a planned launch in winter 2022-23.

Can I offer WEMountain courses as a gift?
Of course – and we’re sure they’ll love it! You can purchase gift vouchers directly from our website.

How long will my digital certificate be valid?
WEMountain certificates do not expire. However, we recommend that you refresh your skills regularly (e.g., once a year) or take a more advanced course.

How long after the course will I receive my WEMountain membership card?
Your WEMountain membership card will be mailed to you after you successfully complete your T-Learning certificate.

Do I need to have a certain skill level to take a T-Learning course?
WEMountain courses are for mountain enthusiasts (freeriders, ski tourers or snowshoers) who are able to travel independently in the backcountry. If you are not sure, speak to one of our instructors.

Who teaches WEMountain T-Learning courses?
Our instructors are professionals with the highest possible level of expertise. Our T-Learning courses are taught exclusively by IFMGA and AIARE mountain guides and certified ski instructors who have completed WEMountain’s instructor training.

How much does a T-Learning courses cost?
Course costs depend on the instructor, the location and the number of participants (1 to 8 people) taking the course. Ask your instructor for a quote.

Are T-Learning course participants insured?
Participants take WEMountain courses under their own responsibility. They are responsible for making sure that they are adequately insured before participating in a course. In addition, when registering for the course, participants declare that they understand and accept that backcountry snow sports involve inherent risks that can result in physical endangerment or death.
